Biological Science Technician (Fisheries)

Operates independently or as a crew leader, participates in the development of fisheries project plans. Arranges and plans fisheries team members review for spawning surveys, snorkel surveys (night), smelt traps, stream restoration project monitoring (physical stream data), and marking fish (fin clips or Passive Integrative Transponder (PIT) tags). Prepares charts and summaries and assists in developing data through computer software packages or other calculations. Records both procedures and observations. Develops explanations for unusually high or low figures and provides an analysis with the data presented to the supervisor. Ensures that data gathered by the field crew is inputted into the appropriate database (Excel or Access), authenticated, and that a summary report of findings is written for all research/field projects. Monitors and recommends habitat improvement plans and designs to improve streambed configurations based on field studies. Responsible for using various types of equipment and tools to sample and analyze for silt, size fractions, etc. Responsible for conducting routine analysis of data and preparing reports of findings. Determines compliance with safety regulations, rules, etc.; establishes inventory and equipment maintenance requirements for fisheries equipment; and maintains appropriate inventories and maintenance schedules. Ensures fisheries equipment is working in a safe manner according to agency requirements. Regulates and ensures fisheries equipment is maintained at an appropriate operating level to ensure no breakdowns in equipment. Acts as the primary point of contact for implementation of safety regulations and safe working conditions and is accountable to supervisor to report conditions and progress on removing inconsistencies. Independently or as a team lead, plans a wide variety of types of limited operational fishery projects that require diverse technical knowledge, and where dissimilar specialized methods, procedures, and/or techniques are required. Projects may occur in single or multi-phase and deal with regular as well as non-regular issues. Extensive planning and coordination is required along with working with others, drawing up schedules and selecting appropriate methods and procedures. Is assigned to teams based on knowledge, skill, and availability to address specific issues; to provide the skills, perspective, and expertise to provide structured input, advice, or perspectives. Teams are integrated and cross-disciplinary and are established to assure inter-agency collaboration and cooperation to meet individual and corporate work objectives. Teams are accountable as a unit for the quality and quantity of work produced, and for integrated and coordinated Agency policy, direction, communications, and customer service. Assisting biologists in the collection, ordering, and analysis of biological and physical data in an aquatic environment. Assisting in collecting biological data, inspecting multiple sites, and modifying procedures in performing fisheries-related assignments and project activities. Scheduling, servicing, calibrating, repairing, and installing fishery sampling gear. GS-07:

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
