Lead Biological Science Technician (Wildlife)

MAJOR DUTIES:
Individually, as a leader, or part of a team, conducts nocturnal and diurnal California spotted owl surveys in order to determine spotted owl occupancy, nesting, and reproductive statuses. Actively participates in the scheduling and organizing of spotted owl surveys. Using prescribed procedures, resolves regular and recurring problems concerning survey work. Imitates a wide variety of spotted owl vocalizations. Identifies multiple owl species by sound. Identifies vegetation and animal species by sight. Collects, prepares, evaluates and verifies data on abundance, population structure, habitat use, movements and behavior of spotted owls and other owl species. Captures and bands spotted owls, trains others in handling and banding techniques. Adapts, modifies or develops new techniques and/or procedures to satisfy the needs of the spotted owl's project. Independently initiates action to resolve or correct technical difficulties and results, or recommends resolution to supervisor. Assists with development of reports after higher graded employees have refined and verified the data and analyzed the results. Records field data in a legible manner. Maintains field equipment in good working condition. Trains lower level employees and may occasionally serve as a crew leader on designated projects. Performs other duties as assigned. GS 07:
(1) One year of specialized experience equivalent to GS-06 grade level. Specialized experience is defined as:
Inspecting wildlife habitat and/or nesting sites and collecting field data on wildlife habitat and vegetation, species condition, location, and status for the preparation of maps and habitat management and improvement plans. Compiling and summarizing biological data obtained from aerial and ground surveys to determine vegetation type, wildlife and livestock use, and to identify and evaluate habitat management. GS-07:
There is no substitution of education for this position.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
