Administrative Operations Assistant, GS-0303-5/6 (MP-YS)

As an Administrative Operations Assistant within the Forest & Rangeland Ecosystem Science Center, some of your specific duties will include:
- Perform administrative functions pertaining to recruitment, selection, and on-boarding of staff. Assist with personnel actions such as , appointment expirations, promotion, awards, and training activities. - Provide advice and assistance to office employees on time and attendance procedures and regulations. Review payroll to ensure proper entry of account and hours codes and prepares corrections. - Prepare travel authorizations and vouchers utilizing the contracted government travel software. Advise staff on travel rules, regulations and procedures for foreign travel. - Assist with analysis of organizational elements including such functions as overtime costs, logistical support, office and field space, office equipment, and work distribution. - Assist with managing comprehensive administrative records management process in both electronic and hardcopy filing system for the office. - Enters or extracts information in personnel, payroll, travel, and training systems, as well as local administrative databases/websites. - Applicants must be a qualified typist, able to type a minimum of 40 words per minute, based on a 5 minute sample with 3 or fewer errors. - Operates a government motor vehicle as an incidental driver. Applicants must meet one of the following to qualify for the GS-5 level:
One year of specialized experience in or directly related to this position that equipped the applicant with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of this position. To be creditable, the required specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the GS-04 level in the Federal service. Example of GS-4 level work:
Performs a full range of assignments consisting of related steps, processes or methods; responses differ in nature and sequence; requires knowledge of an organization's programs and operations, rules and processes. Exercises initiative in completing recurring assignments; uses judgment in selecting appropriate guidelines and procedures from among a number of specific references. For GS-06:
Applicants must meet one of the following to qualify for the GS-6 level:
One year of specialized experience in or directly related to this position that equipped the applicant with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of this position. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
