What General Information Do I Need To Know About This Position?
This is a term appointment for which all qualified applicants with or without Federal status may apply and be considered. Appointment to this position, however, will not convey permanent status in the Federal service and will be for a period not to exceed 13 months with possible extensions up to a total of 4 years without further competition.
This position is a SEASONAL , full time, appointment. This appointment does not provide for employment on a year-round basis. This position will have a maxiflex work schedule. The employee will work or be in a pay and duty status at least 13 pay periods and not more than 25 pay periods in any service year. When the employee''s services are not required at certain times due to lack of work, lack of funds, or weather conditions, the employee will be in a non-work and non-pay status.

As a Wildlife Biologist within the Forest and Rangeland Ecosystem Science Center, some of your specific duties will include:
Participate in the planning, execution and technical assistance of complex studies and investigations related to the conservation and management of northern spotted owls, barred owls, and associated wildlife and vegetation types in the Pacific Northwest.
Coordinate research and permitting requirement with state and federal agencies, private landowners, and industry personnel.
Prepare reports on progress and completion of studies.
Train and lead field crews in collecting and managing scientific data from multiple (2-4) study sites. This position requires specific educational course work to qualify, you are required to provide all unofficial transcripts (undergraduate, graduate, etc.) or list of course work, which includes semester hours earned and grade received, by the closing date of this announcement or you will be disqualified from further consideration. GS-7: One year of appropriate professional experience that is in or related to the duties of the position to be filled is qualifying if it is equivalent in level of difficulty and responsibility to at least the GS-5 level in the Federal service, and if it equipped the applicant with the knowledge, skills and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position. Examples of GS-5 level work may include: 1) collecting basic biological data from field investigations; 2) preparing samples; 3) making observations on biological conditions; 4) searching published technical sources for information on designated topics and preparing summaries for reference of others.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
