As a member of the technical staff, responsibilities include working in the Analytical Labs in Corvallis, Oregon in support of R&D.; Emphasis will be in failure analysis of Ink Jet Components to solve product, process and materials problems. Advanced degree required.
Description
Analyzes and evaluates materials for composition and chemistry for thermal inkjet printheads and other hardware systems. Conducts feasibility studies, design margin and validation analyses and empirical testing on new and modified designs. Assists in material development and assessment. Evaluates reliability of materials, processes, and techniques used in production. May direct support personnel in sample preparation, subsequent materials analysis and data interpretation.
Responsibilities
Performs analyses of materials using surface chemical analytical methods. Interpret data and provide feedback to engineering partners with regard to compositional and chemical information. Designs portions of engineering solutions for testing of materials in accordance with development technology practices and guidelines.
Develops and implements parameters and test plans for evaluating and analyzing existing material sets, including validation of tolerances
Collaborates and communicates with internal and WW partners on the materials analysis and or failure analysis and root cause investigation.
Participates as a member of project team of other engineers to develop reliable, cost effective and high quality solutions for low to moderately-complex products.
## Qualifications
Education and Experience
Advanced degree in Chemistry, Material Science or Physical Sciences
Advanced degree received in 2014.
Knowledge and Skills
Strong written and verbal communication skills; mastery in English and local language. Ability to effectively communicate design proposals and negotiate options.
Failure Analysis of components and/or devices by using the appropriate surface analytical techniques
Ability to apply analytical and problem solving skills.
Hands-on experience with surface chemical analytical techniques such as XPS or AES or static SIMS is desirable
