Two positions will be filled from this vacancy, both in Region 6.
One position is located on the Middle Fork Ranger District of the Willamette National Forest, in Westfir Oregon and provides assistance to the timber sale accounting program providing technical support work primarily in the financial aspects of the timber sale appraisals and accounting, contract activities, and business management phases of timber sale administration. The incumbent is responsible for all financial management of each sale contract, ensuring correct payments are made within set time frames and credited to correct accounts for each sale, provides monitoring of the business management aspects of sale administration, and maintains sale folders for all sales.

The other position is located on the Siuslaw National Forest Supervisor''s Office in Corvallis Oregon, under Natural Resource Management. The incumbent serves as the Timber Resource Assistant for the Forest and will perform technical support work in timber sale appraisals and accounting, Special Forest Products, contracting activities, and business management phases of sale administration. In addition, the incumbent has ongoing duties working with the Forest Timber Financial Specialist to ensure that the SO has adequate Financial Specialist resources.

Basic Requirements: You must possess the Basic Requirements identified below to be considered eligible for all positions at the GS-6 grade level and above. Transcripts must be provided with your application if education is being used. The education must have been obtained in an accredited college or university and demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work. Your application or resume must clearly show that you possess the appropriate experience requirements. Specialized experience is defined as experience that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled and has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position.
GS-6: One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-5 grade level; OR six months (9 semester hours) of successfully completed graduate level education if the coursework is directly related to the work of the position (for example Business Administration); AND/OR combinations of graduate level education that is directly related to the position and specialized experience.
Examples of specialized experience For the GS-6 level are : Performs technical review of timber sale packages to ensure they are in proper format and technically accurate. Monitors and maintains financial management of timber sale contracts. Assures that all timber collection of revenues and deposits are billed, collected and deposited to the proper accounts. Assists in opening and reviewing sealed bids for the compliance with regulations and instructions and for the determination of the high bidder. Audits, prepares, and enters contract data into timber sale program. Audits scale records or tree measurement tally sheets and performs the processing of data. Performs the correction of scale tickets and final corrections to the edit files until all entries are valid.
GS-7: One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-6 grade level; OR one full year (18 semester hours) of successfully completed graduate level education if the coursework is directly related to the work of the position (for example Business Administration); AND/OR combinations of graduate level education that is directly related to the position and specialized experience.
Examples of specialized experience for the GS-7 are : Audits the automated timber accounting system. Follows established controls to assure that all timber collection of revenues and deposits are billed, collected and deposited to the proper accounts. Establishes and maintains permit folders, computes fees and coordinates annual billings and delinquent payments with permit administrators. Applies knowledge of several types of software, such as spreadsheets, templates, databases, word processing documents, publishing and graphics applications to generate specific working documents and forms. Tracks all timber sale financial collections assuring they are processed. Audits, prepares, and enters contract data into TSA program. Reviews printouts and resolves any data entry errors. Performs the correction of scale tickets and final corrections to the edit files until all entries are valid. Provides guidance to clerical staff and is responsible for accuracy and proper maintenance of records.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
