Responsibilities include maintaining HR records in accordance with state and federal laws, compiling and analyzing data, processing personnel action forms, administering the performance evaluation and bilingual testing programs and coordinating Citywide events.
These tasks are illustrative only and may include other related duties.

The Human Resources Team strives to deliver quality customer service and be a professional resource for managers and employees.
Essential Functions Performs customer service functions by answering employee requests and questions.
Administers the employee performance evaluation program.
Audits, enters, and files performance appraisals.
Reviews and follows up with supervisors regarding appraisal status and overdue evaluations.
Assists in maintenance of the Human Resources Information System (HRIS) by creating, maintaining, and updating confidential personnel information and data entry of personnel actions.
Reviews personnel actions for accuracy; processes personnel actions according to procedures.
Runs and audits various HRIS reports as needed.
Assists with various research projects and/or special projects as requested.
Coordinates employee appreciation events and wellness activities.
Administers the annual bilingual testing program.
Performs a variety of general office support and clerical duties; composes and proofreads letters and other documents; responds to requests for employment verification; prepares periodic and special reports; makes photocopies and faxes documents.
Uses initiative and judgment to see that human resource matters are handled effectively and efficiently so as to provide superior customer service to applicants and employees.
Assists in preparation of negotiation materials, researches comparison information and completes any other special assignments related to collective bargaining.
May take and transcribe notes and minutes from departmental meetings, committee meetings and during labor negotiations.
Oversees, maintains and stores a variety of electronic and paper records related to human resources operations and activities; maintains confidential employee files; reviews and purges records and files in accordance with applicable state and federal laws.
Serves on a variety of employee committees; prepares and presents staff reports and other necessary correspondence as requested.
Serves as a resource and provides information to the public, other agencies, and City staff requiring the use of judgment and the interpretation of a variety of policies, rules and regulations.
Acts ethically and honestly; applies ethical standards of behavior to daily work activities and interactions.

Qualifications and Skills Education and Experience High school diploma required.
Associate's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in human resources, public administration, business administration, organizational development, or a related field is preferred.
Two years professional human resource experience.
Two years computer experience in using an HRIS and in proficiently using the Microsoft Office Suite.
Experience using a records management system preferred.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Ability to read and apply pertinent laws, rules, regulations, standards and procedures.
Ability to edit work for spelling and grammar.
Ability to effectively manage work load within specified time frame.
Ability to organize, prioritize and coordinate work activities.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
