As a Wildlife Technician, you will provide operational and technical support for a range of wildlife and environmental operational and research projects across Western Timberlands.
Your will work with wildlife scientists, project leaders, Timberlands staff, and, to a lesser extent, Government Affairs and Corporate Sustainability groups.
Your primary focuses in your role include assisting in the administration of the northern spotted owl and marbled murrelet survey programs (60%); passive and active sampling of wildlife populations (25%); and logistic support for primary investigators and external collaborators (15%).
As a Wildlife Technician, you are an active participant in safety programs and should demonstrate a strong commitment to maintaining safe working conditions for yourself, fellow employees, and contractors.
In addition to formal research support activities, you will be expected to stay abreast of current science, assist in developing management recommendations, and support operational technology transfer efforts across Timberlands in Oregon and Washington.
As a Wildlife Technician, you will communicate and coordinate with scientists, project leaders, the Environmental Team and key customers in Western Timberlands (Operations, Marketing, and Planning).
This position can be based out of our office in Corvallis, OR; Lebanon, OR; or Eugene, OR.
Essential Job Functions Conduct tasks related to Weyerhaeuser wildlife survey programs, and across multiple disciplines within the S&T organization and the business as needed Lead contractors conducting surveys for wildlife or other data collection, which involves contract administration (both preparing contracts and managing the contractor) Achieve and maintain high levels of collaboration across multiple disciplines Collect and audit data for site monitoring and survey efforts, particularly for endangered, threatened, or at-risk species Coordinate work with collaborators across S&T disciplines, and assist other groups/scientists within Operational support and Environmental Research as needed Provide technical expertise in wildlife biology and environmental monitoring Maintain working knowledge on silviculture and stand management tools Qualifications Bachelors degree (or higher) in Wildlife Science, Biology, Ecology, Natural Resources, or closely related field At least 1 year of related experience Proactive, energetic, positive, and motivated team player with a desire to learn Detailed oriented and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment Verbal and written communication skills Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) Basic GIS knowledge with data management skills Strong willingness to work effectively in a team environment and learn the overall business Demonstrated ability to think and work independently and lead field efforts for collecting environmental survey data Demonstrated commitment to working safely both independently and with other team members Ability to traverse managed and unmanaged forest stands across variable terrain and weather conditions Willing and able to occasionally work nights and irregular hours, based on business needs Ability to drive safely on both logging road systems and primary road networks Willing and able to travel up to 25% of the time, throughout western Oregon, and Washington Valid driver's license Able to successfully pass a background check and drug screen Compensation:
This role is eligible for our annual merit-increase program, and we are targeting a salary range of $65,000.
00 to $97,400.
00 based on your level of skills, qualifications, and experience.
You will also be eligible for our Annual Incentive Program, which offers an opportunity for a cash bonus targeting 5% of base pay.
Potential plan funding may range from zero to two times that target.

Paid Time Off or Vacation:
We provide eligible employees who are scheduled to work 25 hours or more per week with paid vacation for up to 3 weeks to use during your first year of employment.
In addition, after being employed for six months, eligible employees begin to accrue vacation for future use.
We also recognize eleven paid holidays per year, providing a total of 88 hours along with paid parental leave for all full-time employees.
