Summary:
The Laboratory Technician collects and processes clinical blood, non-blood specimens, and drug screens; dispenses collection instructions to patients; performs waived and moderate complexity laboratory tests; maintains laboratory documentation, supplies, equipment, and safety; utilizes computer systems for data storage and retrieval.
Has working knowledge of ICD10 coding and Medicare compliance regulations.
Responsibilities:
1.
Will participate and maintain a culture within The CorvallisClinic consistent with the content outlined in the Service and BehavioralStandards Caregiver Handbook.
To this end, employee will be expected to read,have familiarity, and embrace the principles contained within 2.
Knowledge of federal regulations asrelated to drug and alcohol testing collection procedures 3.
Order and distribute kits and maintainchain of custody needed for specimen collection 4.
Performs venipunctureand specimen processing 5.
Performs pointof collection tests as directed by DHHS as requested by CLIA 6.
Collects and process clinical blood,non-blood specimens and drug screens.
Dispense collection instructions topatients 7.
Performs moderate complexitylaboratory testing 8.
Will receive DATIA certificate within 1year of employment 9.
Follows procedures, policies, andMedicare compliance regulations 10.
Ability to work flexible hours andassist in off-site collections 11.
Maintains work area including records,supplies equipmentequipment QA logs and safety 12.
Utilizes computer systems for datastorage and retrieval 13.
Participates in competency andproficiency testing, and in-house continuing education 14.
Collects specimens in off-sitelocations 15.
Carries the on-call Pager 16.
Administers vaccinations 17.
Reviews new employee medical recordsfor appropriate vaccinations 18.
Performs Breath Alcohol Testing 19.
Ability to perform EKG's and PFT's asneeded 20.
Ability to travel to multiple cliniclocations Education, licensure, and
Experience:
Certification as a Phlebotomist or equivalent (ASCP, NPA or ASCLS) required Two or more successful years of phlebotomy experience preferred One year or more of clinical laboratory testing experience a plus Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification Perks and
