Job Description:
The National Asian Pacific Center on Aging (NAPCA) is seeking candidates 55 years of age and older for the position of Laboratory Technical Professional with the U.
S.
EPA Senior Environmental Employment Program (SEE).
This position will work for the EPA's Office of Research and Development and Center for Public Health and Environmental Assessment.
This position offers a hybrid schedule of in-person and telework.
General
Summary:
Assist in operating the instruments for measuring stable isotope ratios within the Integrated Stable Isotope Research Facility.
Qualifications (must meet all three minimum requirements):
Be a minimum of 55 years of age (in accordance with Public Law 98-313 and the Older American Workers Act) Be a US citizen Be eligible to work in the US Duties/
Responsibilities:
Operate Stable Isotope Ratio Mass Spectrometers (IRMS), Laser Off-axis integrated cavity output spectroscopy (OA-ICOS) and other equipment for chemical analysis such as gas chromatographs, elemental analyzers, spectrometers, and thermal conversion elemental analyzers (TCEA).
30% Conduct routine maintenance of Stable Isotope Ratio Mass Spectrometers (IRMS), Laser Off-axis integrated cavity output spectroscopy (OA-ICOS) and other equipment for chemical analysis.
20% Conduct routine QA/QC of data generated by Stable Isotope Ratio Mass Spectrometers (IRMS), Laser Off-axis integrated cavity output spectroscopy (OA-ICOS).
20% Conduct troubleshooting and repair of Stable Isotope Ratio Mass Spectrometers (IRMS), Laser Off-axis integrated cavity output spectroscopy (OA-ICOS) and other equipment for chemical analysis.
20% Assist in offline sample preparation for isotopic analysis such as the microbial technique for measuring nitrate isotopic values.
